TraVerus August Promotion Special. Become a TraVerus Travel Agent for just $29.95. David Manning, President and CEO has just announced this special. This fantastic price includes the Certified Travel Agent Training for an additional $50.

Wonder what you get for your $29.95? To start you get your very own online travel website. Like those you may have gone to in the past. But now you get the commission when you or your friends go to your TraVerus website.

You also get huge discounts on travel. The TraVerus member trips are to places all over the world and at unbelievable prices.

An example: 4 days/3 nights at the Royal Solaris in Cabo San Lucas for just $268 per person – and that is an all inclusive resort. This is even better than a cruise because “all inclusive” here means unlimited food and beverage – including alcohol. Yes, unlimited food and beverage are included in the low low price of $268. There’s even a supervised kids club.

The 50th Anniversary of Dodger Stadium was Fantastic! Any baseball fan will delight in the "Field of Dreams" with so many Baseball Hall of Famers!

I love baseball. It IS the American past-time!! Some day I would like to visit all the major league fields. But for now, I relish in Dodger Stadium. We usually have beautiful weather – and somehow when you’re at a game — you feel like you are participating in an outdoor sport. Maybe it’s because there is always so much walking from your car to your seat!!

I hope you enjoy my video of Dodger Opening Day 2008. It was a very special time – celebrating 50 years of Dogers at Chevez Ravine.

See the fly-over on the screen! That always gives chills. They did a ‘Field of Dreams’ type of thing, with players from the past coming on to the field one at a time. First Duke Snider, wearing his Brooklyn Jersey. He walked from behind Center Field, onto the field, and stopped, all alone – in the middle of Center Field. The fans went wild. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Duke was home.

Then came Don Newcome from right field, the last link to Jackie Robinson; Steve Sax to 2nd base, Maurey Wills – best known for his stolen bases took his place at short stop, from right field came Steve Finley who hit a grand slam to win the division title; and Bill Russell who played more games than any other Dodger; Eric Karros, Jimmy Campanis, Don Miles – only played 8 games in 1958; Wes Parker, Wally Moon, Jim Gentile, Dick Gray, Ron Cey, Roger Craig, Rick Monday, “Sweet” Lou Johnson, Steve Yeager, Steve Garvey, Tommy Daves.

Fernando Valenzuela received one of the largest cheers. He was one of the two that were not in their Dodger Uniforms. He was working, being the announcer for Spanish broadcasts. And, of course, Tommy Lasorda, who entered from the bull pen and walked slowly all the way to the mound. He seemed to relish in the tumultuous cheers.

As the last player was announced, the entire current Dodger team flooded on to the field to join the old timers. The LA Times reported that they said it was chilling to be sharing the field with such greats!

And what Dodger event would be complete without Vin Scully, who through his microphone reminded those gathered “Gentlemen, there are three stages of life. Youth, maturity and ‘You’re looking wonderful’. You are all looking wonderful today.”

Sandy Kofax didn’t want to throw the ceremonial pitch out all alone. so there were three: Sandy, Carl Erskine, and Don Newcomb. The catchers were Javier Herrera, Lasorda and Joe Torre. (Herrera is a Dodger bat boy who, with no one else available, stepped into the same row, and same sentence, as Lasorda and Torre.) “Someone told me to grab a glove …it was amazing.”

I’ll be there again this year – April 13 is the date!

In the meantime — Go Dodgers!!

Wow!! David Manning, President of TraVerus Travel Network has announced what looks to be a bonanza of success for everyone connected to TraVerus. David calls them the “It Factor”: Restore It, Lose It, Flaunt It, and Charge It.

“Restore It” is a prepackaged travel pack (packaged to pass the TSA screenings at the airport). There is a bottle of Immune to help overcome jet lag, and fight those traveling bugs. Immune is geared to help in the fight to keep you healthy.

Also included in the Restore It package is a spray mist to restore your PH balance and combat the dehydration of your skin from air travel. The travel pack also includes a cleanser and a moisturizing gel. So Restore It has four products, Immune, spray mist, cleanser, and moisturizing gel.

“Loose It“, obviously, is a weight loss product. This tested and proven product will certainly be the hit. It’s easy and it works day and night. And what seems there’s never a time most of us don’t need to loose weight.

“Flaunt It“, the pinnacle product offered. There are 24K gold nuggets floating around in it. It is youth serum for the face – to reduce wrinkles. Men and women both will go crazy for it. They’ll all want it! It looks cool – and it works! A similar product sells at Neiman Markus for very high dollars. TraVerus price will beat everyone’s price!!

“Charge It” is an energy drink. What better time to use an energy drink than when traveling. When you get to one airport and need to rush to another terminal to catch that other plane, this drink will help you. Or how about if you’ve been flying for 6 hours, and when you arrive you have a meeting – but you are really beat. Just “Charge It” and you should be good to go for another 4 hours.

The new TraVerus products should be available within the month. Stay in touch. You’ve got to try them!!!

Who Votes for the Oscars? Exactly what is the process? It's fun to guess based on what you like best ... but don't expect that to be what Hollywood likes best.

My husband Jack votes. So do thousands in the film industry. In order to vote, you need a sponsor to join the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.

You or the production company nominate for the various categories. When the initial ballot is ready, only those in the peer group vote to get down to the final 5. Writers vote on writers, actors vote for actors, costumers for costumers. But once there are the final 5 – everyone votes for all categories.

Actors make up the majority of the Academy members. So often the votes are scewed to actors – i.e. Clint Eastwood receiving the most votes for his directing. (Not to say that he didn’t deserve the awards – but it is a fact.) There are certain favorites among actors, and certain that are out of favor. This plays a big role when voting.

The selection method is reversed for the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the Emmys. Once again, the studio and/or producers make the initial nomination. But all the Academy vote to get down to the final five. Then – only peer groups vote on the final five. For some of the categories the peer groups actually go to a hotel, view all five nominations, and cast their vote right there.

Either way, it’s a fun guessing game for all of us. Maybe this information can help you in your office Oscar Pool.
